The challenge was significant. The product needed to present complex real-time and historical energy data through a highly constrained 320x480 pixel interface, while remaining intuitive, accessible and engaging for a broad range of users. The experience needed to balance customer needs, commercial objectives and technical constraints, transforming complex energy information into clear and actionable insights

I led the design process from discovery through to delivery, conducting user research, usability testing, wireframing, prototyping and UI design.

Working closely with product managers, engineers, commercial stakeholders and installation teams, I designed experiences that balanced the needs of both end users and field engineers. This included supporting installation and commissioning workflows

A key objective of the project was to create an experience that felt familiar and intuitive to users, drawing inspiration from the interaction patterns and usability standards commonly found on modern smartphones

Despite the device operating within significant hardware constraints, including limited RAM and processing power the experience was designed to feel responsive, engaging, and easy to navigate
